  4. Sorry for bumping my thread. Just chgainingin. I am gaining motivation, running out of options. Spoke to a caseworker and have an appointment monday for another mental health triage. If that doesnt work out, its off to an alternative safe environment. Monday is my last day smoking either way. I have accepted that Nicotine is a powerful and addictive psychoactive drug. And I have accepted the fact that there is no quality of life while addicted. The easiest way out is just to quit smoking. And when this is done, I am never, ever, ever putting that garbage in my body ever again. I will post when I take my last dose, and throughout the detox and recovery phases.

  5. this is Bayleigh....My daughter wanted a puppy...I ended up with a dog... Shes been a great dog..almost 15 years old...her face is more white than brown now, but her nose still gets her into just as much trouble as it did when she was a pup....lol And then we have Baxter...this is my wife's Bichon..almost 10 years old, and still has the energy of a puppy....too high maintenance dog for me...he goes to the groomer about every 4-5 weeks....it doesnt take much for that hair to start to mat..

I quit 5 years ago and have many friends here, and many friends who have left...hate to be last guy dancing.....plus there are many here now who got the same style humor to keep it rolling....maybe after a lay off....but not quiting the group...laying back. PS. Not one new friend request on buddybook.....

  11. Thank you. Often times I still want one or at least think I do. Yesterday I was reminded of the main reason I decided to quit, which is to avoid health problems. That reminder came in the form of some woman who was working at the store i was at, she had a hole in her throat. May not have been smoking-related but either way, screw smoking.

  12. Take care my friend. You may decide to come home and visit more often than you think depending on where life takes you. In any case, you've done your job both for yourself as well as passing on your knowledge and experience to others so go annoy the rest of the world now

  17. And just a quick addition to my protest of Bakon taking a break for fear of being misconstrued. No one here posts anything out of malice, so if you are hurt or offended by a post, reach out and ASK what was meant rather than thinking the worst. This board more than ANY other board is a safe space, not one poster here is malicious.

  18. Bakon, you’ve been a source of inspiration, laughs, confusion and admiration- sincere thanks for all of it. I hope this doesn’t mean you won’t be here at all but maybe just not as frequently as you take the time to enjoy the rest of your life more. Xxi PT

  19. Someone seriously got offended by your posts and humor? Newbies do not always know much of what is going on, do not let that keep you from stopping in here. I mean if the admins and mods are not on your case, nothing to worry about.

  22. Couple more months. Swear I coughed today and tasted smoke. Not really but was in a smoking bar last week and bothered me at first. But I could see without education how quits get fudged up in a bar. Thanks to you animals, I am safe. Don't reply to smoking threads, out of the loop on some newbies and fear insulting someone who don't get my humor. So retired to socialize stuff, which is fun but taking a break from checking in five times a day. I will hit up for anniversary dates. Good luck to all in the year to come, may sunshine up your rear and make you warm and fuzzy. If you need to reach me anytime ask Nancy she can point you to me on buddybook. Keep Marching.

  25. As I begin the third day of not smoking I am faced with the hardest decision I will make during this journey. My wife is still smoking. So do I say it's okay if she wants to smoke in the house since it is so bitterly cold outside and it is her house too. Or do I just say nothing. I know she had to make the commitment to quit herself but I also know it would be so easy for me to buy a pack to "support her" which is just an excuse to go back. I know I am not going to give up what I have accomplished so far. I do not want to go through withdrawals again. My headache is finally going away. I did not get irritated yesterday. I am feeling even stronger today. So even though I love my wife with all my heart, I am not going to say anything. If she asks I will even tell her I prefer she didn't because it is still a struggle for me. I got this!!!! I don't know if it is support I get here or what but I am almost excited this time and confident I can make this quit stick!

  27. Fantastic job JB! You can now measure your quit as 1/4 Year!! How great is that? Thanks for all you do here too. I have always believed that the people who participate regularly here do well with their quits. Helping others strengthens one's own quit resolve. I see you being successful in maintaining a life long quit

  32. Newbies, Make the commitment. One year on the train, keep yourself accountable. When you come and pledge not to take a puff just for that day 365 times, you win.

  35. Our neighbour just rescued a cat the other day. We loaned them our live-trap to catch it because it wouldn't come in on it's own. The -30's & 40's are one thing when you have shelter but domesticated animals are ill prepared to deal with the sh*t!! The cat is now safe and warm next door and apparently warming up to people again too. Unfortunately, the wife seems to have her eye on the critter. I thought we were done with taking in strays

About us

QuitTrain®, a quit smoking support community, was created by former smokers who have a deep desire to help people quit smoking and to help keep those quits intact.  This place should be a safe haven to escape the daily grind and focus on protecting our quits.  We don't believe that there is a "one size fits all" approach when it comes to quitting smoking.  Each of us has our own unique set of circumstances which contributes to how we go about quitting and more importantly, how we keep our quits.
