Well, it's getting close to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 25, 2019. At 8:00 p.m., I will be 24 hours into my quit. I have done the first 24 hours quite a few times and am feeling like quite the expert! Typically I go out and buy myself a pack of cigarettes to reward myself for going a full day without smoking. Um, isn't the point of quitting to not buy and smoke cigarettes? Yeah, that's what I thought!
I went for a walk which did make this Day 1 a little different from all the others. Didn't really notice any improvement in energy level or breathing but I don't really have trouble with either even when I am smoking.
Another thing that I'm doing different is allowing myself treats and snacks, whatever I want, for the first 3 days. After that, I go back to healthy eating. I don't want to replace one unhealthy practice with another that is just as bad if not worse.
Over all, today wasn't too bad. I did think about smoking quite a bit but didn't have any overwhelming craves. On to day 2! And I do plan to have a consecutive day 2 this time!!!
